solo piano program ma

– Ma – spaces

During a study visit in Japan the concept for the solo performance of “MA” was developed.
Ma stands in Japanese art for the gap, in music between the sound and tones. Music is language- its the artist’s conversation with the audience and not just a one way street.
In this programm the audience has the opportunity to influence the concert actively . Before the concert the audience can choose from themes like: – Listen to the rain – frog songs and dances, with or without rain – bold – Sleeping in the midday summer – woodruff jelly or lemon – transparent
(directly before the concert or www.henning-schmiedt.de)
The selected theme however, will only given musically to the audience, so the listeners feel with pianist together and develop their own mental images of the music.
Henning Schmiedt is an artist whose impact and influence are manifold. His creativity is beyond the usual drawers and can not easily categorize. it is his music – he played with classical, world and jazz musicians, is a producer of CD-productions, arranged for orchestra, chamber ensemble
writes for film and theater.
Were important and influential as his work for the composer Mikis Theodorakis and his long-standing collaboration
with Maria Farantouri as a pianist, as soloist and arranger.
His newly created Requiem for voices, ensemble and the children of the Komische Oper Berlin was the official contribution of the 60th RBB Anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Earlier concepts for solo piano “Bilder” associations to the cinema film “Kurt Weil,”
Piano Textures with live electronic, timeshifting Blinddate-a musical conversation with a fictional duo partner, and “Snow” – Association of music works of the painter Johann Heinrich Radeloff.
The new solo program by Henning Schmiedt is continuing and processing a variety of influences to their own
musical language.
